2008 Calendar

Director’s Comment:  January 2008

What a terrific season we had together.  You, as a choir, sang better than ever and we were able to try some new music and work on a benefit event together.  The season was a long and busy one, but one that I hope each of you enjoyed as much as I did.

The spring concert schedule is included in this web site, and may be a bit longer than some of you may have anticipated.  But, we encourage you to sing as many of these concerts as you can.

For those of us making summer plans, there will be no KCMMC performances scheduled.  It is always a challenge to find sponsoring churches, and this is the summer for my men’s choir sabbatical.

We had a couple of concerts this fall that had great performances and few listeners.  The board has addressed the problems, and our goal is to schedule concerts with larger audiences.  Please know that this is sometimes out of our control, but we are aware of the problem, and we are going to be more vigilant in guaranteeing a larger audience for our concerts.

This coming fall we are planning:

  1. A recording session that will produce a CD of mainly Christmas music.

  2. A possible tour to St. Louis to sing a couple of performances and do a combined concert with the men’s chorus from Champaign, Illinois.

  3. Our regular slate of concerts in November and December.

  4. To reach the $100,000 mark in assisting our sponsoring organizations in helping those in need

Finally, our thanks to Dennis Fuhrman and Thrivent Financials for “yoking” with us in sponsoring the Habit for Humanity benefit that we held in October.

The KCMMC is a great way for God to use our talents in behalf of others.  I’m glad to be a part of it.  I know that you are too.  See you at our 2008 rehearsals in January and February.

Why Sing!

  • Singers are more immune to disease, are healthier and have more positive attitudes than the average American.

  • Singing is the most popular leisure time activity.  There are more that 12,500 groups like ours in the United States.

  • Singers are more prone to support other fine arts events and to support those in need more often than other institutions.

Notes from the President:
 January 2008

Well, another great year for our chorus.  What a privilege to be a part of a group of men who enjoys singing and giving of time and money toward helping those that are less fortunate than us.  May the Lord continue to bless this special group as we continue to reach out to those in need through out this New Year.

Of our 13 concerts in 2007, one was a major diversion from our normal routine with the fund raiser for Habitat for Humanity, co sponsored by Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.  Promoting this concert with a silent and live auction, including dinner, was a first (and last) for our group; however after many hours of preparation by many members, the event was a success.

We had 108 members practicing and singing with us this past fall; however we have 141 members on our roster.  It would be wonderful if all of you could be with us this January as we prepare for the spring schedule.  The Baptist church in Independence has asked us back this spring where we will have another group picture made, so please plan on attending this event.

Members Needed

The KCMMC is always on the “lookout” for new members.  We have about 130 members on the rolls with 85 signed and paid and with about 70 singing each performance.  We would like to build our membership to where we would sing 100 men at every performance.

You are the vital part in our search for members.  If every one of us would recruit one member, we would more than meet our goal.  All that is needed is an invitation.  Invite a fellow singer to join us.

If you need CD’s or membership material, call Dick Schroeder (816.358.2086).  He’s ready to help get those members signed up.  Thanks for your help.

This page is primarily for Members of the chorus in order to provide a means of quickly communicating information that would apply only to them, such as:

  • Special rehearsals

  • Specific performance instructions
